Unit 7: Communication Skills

Providing Effective Feedback

Feedback is defined as information about a person’s behavior (which includes speech) that is provided to that person. Feedback refers to a single “answer” within a conversation and responses to messages and behavior in an ongoing relationship.

In any person-to-person situation, we provide information about another's behavior or get feedback about our own behavior. As you interact with others in law enforcement and citizens you will find frequent occasions in which you must deliver feedback. Giving and getting good feedback is essential to productive
relationships.
