Plural Nouns

1. Some nouns form plurals irregularly. There are no rules, only through constant study and memorization can these following words be mastered.

Examples : child ( children ); man ( men ); woman ( women ); foot ( feet )

2. Some nouns have the same form for both the singular and also for the plural. Never add s to these nouns to form the plural.

Examples : series, sheep, deer, corps, Chinese

3. Some nouns that look like plurals are really singular in meaning and take a singular predicate.

Examples : mathematics, news, United States

4. There are some nouns that are alwasy plural and have no singular forms.

Examples : statistics, cattle, clothes

5. Form plurals of letters and figures by adding s.

Examples : Cross t’s and dot i’s.
